Ever since it was named an obligatory rite by Pope Pius IX in 1856, the Feast of the Sacred Heart has been observed by Catholics the world over. This is a rite where the compassion, dedication, and unwavering love of Jesus Christ is celebrated through reverence and devotion. On June 12th, The Vault Downtown will be holding a celebratory Sunday brunch supporting the local Catholic churches in the area. In Acts 20:35, it’s written that Jesus told his followers that “it is better to give than to receive.” This lesson about humility and the helping of others is not a passing platitude, but a moral standard that many of us should attempt to adhere to.
Giving Back Through Good Eating
The Sunday brunch is served on June 12th and will be held between the hours of 11:00 AM and 4:00 Pm. in adhering to the tradition of tithing one’s earnings to help others, 10% of the proceeds collected at this brunch will be utilized to assist and support the local Sacred Heart Catholic churches which are located in Bluefield and Princeton.
Standing with the Community
In Psalms 133, the apostle Paul spoke of Jesus’ words about the importance of community. “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” The importance of a community standing together and helping each other through acts of kindness and charity are the qualities that Sacred Heart Catholic Church and The Vault Downtown embrace and believe in adhering to for the benefit of all of us who call the same area home.
“Millions for Charity but Nothing for Tribute…”
While life is uncertain and unpredictable, being part of a community that helps one another and provides support in times of need is the greatest gift of all. We hope you can make it on June 12th for some great food for the benefit of a good cause. Sacred Heart is a pillar of the community, and all of us at the Vault are overjoyed to help support them in any way we can.
